Project 2 - Synthesis - "World Building"
For my fourth and final project, I decided to do a topic that has interested me for a long time. From the magical world of middle earth to the Galaxy far far away in star wars, fictional worlds have always interested me. But how do you go from a blank page to a world of magic and mystery. The answer, world building. World building is the process of, world building. Throughout this project I create a brand new world. For the synthesis portion, I combined a Science Fiction world with a Fantasy world to create a whole other feeling. For my art portion I create cities and a layout of my continent, and for my english portion I created journal entries from people in my world. So I invite you with me on this final quest through amazing sky citys, castles, magical forests, new religions, and brand new peoples, as I show you, world building.
Art Portion
I began my art portion after doing a significant portion of world building through my english portion. I then explored and sorted a ton of free 3D models. After finding models that where more fantasy based and then others that where more science fiction based I began synthesizing them. Now to explain how the synthesized cities fit into my world I have to explain a little background. On my continent there are three nations, one based in fantasy, one based in science fiction and one a synthesis of the two. This third one is the one I designed cities for using the synthesis thinking skill. So combining things like floating islands with giant cities I created the art work seen to the right. You can also see my continent map bellow.

English Portion
For my english portion I did world building. This covered everything from building social hierarchy to creating new religions. Now while my synthesis was originally intended to only be the combining of fantasy with science fiction, it grew into something diffrent. The following documents are all pieces of my art portion. I began and sadly did not finish representing how people synthesize diffrent cultures with their own as they grow and matcher. I did this through writing journal entries one of a father and the other of a son and showing how their characters have developed through time and how their views and values changed. I planned to do a grandson and more than one journal entries but my project was cut short sadly, but I hope you enjoy!
